Rotorua Mountain Bike Trail Maps

Plan your trip and check out over 200km of world-class mountain biking trails.

Rotorua has a wide range of mountain biking experiences, from the renowned flowy single track of Whakarewarewa Forest, to Skyline Rotorua Gravity Bike Park riding with gondola uplifts, through to some incredible native experiences on Department of Conservation (DOC) land.

We’ve collated maps from all three riding experiences for you, so they’re easily accessible in one place. That way you can get a feel for how many kilometres of riding are in each place, the different grade levels and forest access points. Enjoy creating an exciting ride plan with your mates.

The Rotorua Mountain Bike Club and the Rotorua Trails Trust has been hugely influential in the development and maintenance of trails in the region over the past three decades. Now – our focus is all about helping riders get the most enjoyment out of these trails - safely.

Safety top tips:

  1. Before you head out, plan your trip by reviewing the trails that will suit your level of fitness and ability - find out which area of the forest has the best access point for the grade of trails you’re keen to ride on.
  2. If riding on your own, let someone know where you’re riding and how long you’re likely to be.
  3. Your insurance policy: Become a Rotorua Mountain Bike Club Member (you can be from any city/country) and make a donation to become a ‘Friend of the Forest’. This means you’ll help to fund the First Response Unit in Whakarewarewa Forest which could save your life, should you need them, due to a gnarly crash. You’ll also be helping to fund trail maintenance by the Rotorua Trails Trust.
