DOC Mountain Biking trails

Some of the most remarkable riding in the Rotorua area can be found on DOC trails. With native bush, iwi history and varied topography - they are a ‘must-do’ to explore.

The Department of Conservation MTB trails

Rotorua’s central location makes some of DOC’s most unique mountain biking experiences easily accessible within a short drive.

Three options are:

• Rainbow Mountain (Maunga Kakaramea) 
• Western Okataina Trail
• Whirinaki Forest: MTB Track and Moerangi Track (overnight stay in a DOC hut an option)
